There is less competition. Wintertime is known to be a slower time in the real estate market. There tends to be less interested home buyers while the business of the holidays or cold temperatures keeps families inside. House hunting is much more popular during the spring and summer months when the weather gets nicer and this is something that buyers should work to their advantage. Since there are typically fewer buyers out on the market during the winter, sellers become more serious about their selling and you will become the center of attention. This can lead to getting a good deal on a home without having to fight off competition, rush into a sale or having to outbid.
Lower prices. When the supply of houses is greater than the demand, prices will be lower. So, during the winter when supply is greater than demand, you have a better chance of receiving a better deal on a house you may like. Hitting up the housing market during peak seasons may cost you the complete opposite!
Serious and Motivated Sellers. Since wintertime will be slow for sellers, they will become more anxious to sell at any interested buyers. This can result in better negotiations for the buyer on anything from the selling price, closing costs or even the closing date.
Undivided attention. Realtors will be able to give you more undivided attention since the rest of the market is slow during this time of year. They will be able to work harder for you and push negotiations to your benefit.
Move-in Time. If you buy a home during the winter months, you can successfully find yourself having a much more relaxing summer. While the weather is still cold, it will give you plenty of time to take on any interior projects and set up your house the way you really want it. There will be more time spent inside to put away all those moving boxes and to get everything organized. Once spring and summer roll around, you’ll be able to enjoy your home and already be settled in. There will be more time to relax on the deck or pool and enjoying the sunshine instead of trying to get your new home organized snd fixed up.
