Cluttered nightstands. Missing socks underneath the bed. Dusty mirrors. Messy drawers. Does this sound like your bedroom? Then this purge of the month is for you!
Spring is vastly approaching and we all know that a little spring cleaning is necessary in order to keep your home in order. However, while every room this month should get a little loving, your bedroom may be one that goes unnoticed the most....which is why we want to make it the main focus this month!
The bedroom is supposed to be a place of sanctuary. This is the place where you rest your head at night and get to unwind and relax. However, if there is a disaster all around you in the one place that is supposed to keep you zen, then let’s make the change now! Here are some things that you may have in your bedroom that is time to purge.
Nightstand clutter. And we mean all of it! Your nightstand should only have the bare essentials sitting on it each day, and while that may differ from person to person, we know a few things that are definitely unnecessary - keep reading to find out!
Loose change everywhere? Start a new habit of putting away loose change either back in your change purse, a change jar, box, etc.
Recycle away all those empty (and half-drunk) water bottles.
Books, magazines or newspapers. Either you already have or will not read. If you have a pile-up of old books that you never got around to putting away, we recommend you do so. Pass on these books for someone else to enjoy or donate them. Books are meant to be read and passed on!
The old alarm clock. We get it - transitioning into 2020 feels very weird. It feels like just yesterday we were waking up to the sound of the old fashioned alarm clock and now all we depend on are our phones who are programmed to wake us up instead. If your old alarm clock is just gathering dust, it is time to clear it from your nightstand.
Messy drawers. If you have that one drawer in your bedroom that is just holding a pile of junk, dedicate this month to racking up the courage to finally go through it. There will be no better feeling than finally organizing and getting rid of things that no longer serve a purpose.
Clothing. There comes a point each year that you should really sit down and go through each piece of your clothing. For one, by going through each one you can decide if it is a piece you no longer want and can donate, and two, allows you to get your closet back into sorts and reorganized. By pulling everything off the shelves and out of drawers, that means you have to put it all back - in a neater and maybe more efficient pattern.
Old bedding. Jumping into bed after a long day should feel like jumping into a cloud. If your bedding isn’t offering that type of comfort that you deserve, you should consider changing it out.
Anything work-related. Don’t bring any unnecessary business home with you, let alone to bed. There is no way to fully relax when you have a big folder of tax papers, projects or even presentations staring at you as you fall asleep. Dedicate another part of your home for things of this matter.
When you are done with this purge you should walk into your bedroom with the “ahhhh” feeling. Knowing that you are sleeping inside a clean and organized bedroom can surprisingly help relax ones soul after a long day.
