With holidays, longer days and warmer weather July seems to just zip right by in a blink of an eye. Don't let this month pass you by without some upkeep to your home. Add these to-do's to your maintenance checklist for this month!
Unfurl a flag for the Fourth. If you are planning to host a party or just want to get into the spirit of Independence day. Get down your American flag and hang it up on your porch! If you don't have a full-size flag don't worry you can line your walkway with mini flags or hang some patriotic bunting!
Clean up your porch lights. Nothing is prettier than your home light up on a warm summer night. Make sure you take down any glass fixtures and clean them inside and out. This will bring an extra sparkle to your home all summer long.
Care for furry friends. Make sure your pets feel safe and secure during the 4th of July fireworks. You can do this by making sure they are well exercised before the event or even playing some music to drown out the noise during the light show! Another way we should take care of our pets during the warmer months is by making sure they are fully hydrated. Offer your pups and kittens water and make sure the bowl is always filled up!
Add shade to the yard. July is warm here in Alaska and if you are planning on hosting in your yard you might want to consider adding a bit more shade. This will make your yard more comfortable for your family and guest to enjoy those hot days!
Keep your home safe while traveling. Planning on taking a trip? Before you take off make sure you put some safety precautions in place. Notify your neighbors or ask a friend to check on your home from time to time. Add motion-sensor exterior lighting and timed interior lighting to your home. Cut your grass and hedges prior to leaving and then ask a neighbor to help or hire a service to keep things maintained during your time away.
Refresh summer whites. Nothing says summer quite like clean and crisp, white linens! Keep these looking amazing by washing any slipcovers, cushions covers, and curtains or send them out for a dry clean! This will add a whole new element of fresh to your home!
