The holidays are going to look a little different this year but you can still enjoy some of your favorite events from a distance! Here is a round-up of a few ways to get into the holiday spirit!
2020 Virtual Polar Plunge | Many of you might be wondering if the polar plunge is still happening and the answer is YES! You can still support Special Olympics Alaska athletes by taking the plunge, you just have to do it virtually. All you have to do is register online and take a video of yourself plunging. If you decide to post your video on social media tag @specialolymak or #PolarPlungeAlaska that way you can be featured in the compilation video that will be posted to the site! If you haven’t registered we recommend doing it now the deadline for video submissions is December 19th.
Holidays Lights in Downtown Anchorage | Enjoy some fresh air and stroll through the Anchorage holidays lights. Admission is free and it will be open from now until the end of the year! All they ask is that you respect physical distancing and mask requirements while enjoying the lights.
Holiday Lights in the Botanical Gardens | Now through January 3rd head on over to the Alaska Botanical Garden and enjoy the gorgeous lights. Walking through these gardens will literally brighten your day. Admission for members is $6.00 nonmembers $8.00 and kids under 6 are free! Please remember to practice safe distancing and stay up-to-date on any safety guidelines during your viewing.
Due to social distancing and safety measures, most holiday events have been put on hold but we hope you enjoy one or all of these festive activities as we head into the final week before Christmas. Happy Holidays!
