Houseless
Location: Anchorage Museum

Through design, art installations and research from the Portland State University School of Architecture’s Center for Public Interest Design, Houseless shows the potential for addressing homelessness. An exhibition about the eviction crisis in the United States and installations of research on how social needs can be addressed by architecture in communities and how technology and new models can aid in the effort.

Presented by the Anchorage Opera, this show celebrates the legend in herself, Frida Kahlo. The music is a pitch-perfect match for Frida, her art, her life and its fusion of opera. With Mariachi-style orchestration, Mexican folkloric music and Broadway musical theater, you will fall in love with Frida!
Family-Friendly Nature Walk
Location: Eagle River Nature Center

A naturalist-led walk to the rive along the Albert Loop, totaling about 3 miles roundtrip. If conditions permit, the family can get on snowshoes and enjoy an afternoon at the Nature Center!
Salute to the Military
Location: Egan Civic & Convention Center

Time: 6 pm
One of Alaska’s largest annual events to honor all service branches. This Annual Salute to the Military is one of the longest-running annual events hosted by a non-profit organization due to all the support from the Anchorage community and military leadership. Twelve exceptional enlisted service members, representing each of the Active Duty branches are recognized for their outstanding achievements and also an award for military spouses.
Ski 4 Kids Day
Location: Kincaid Park Chalet

A day dedicated to winter fun and events for children aged 0-14. Obstacle courses, a mock-biathlon and a series of races try to reach the goal of helping develop an appreciation of winter outdoor sports and fitness for the Anchorage youth! It is respectfully recommended that a $20 entry donation is made where net proceeds from the event will benefit a Nordic skiing Association of Anchorage grant program that provides ski equipment to schools and youth organizations.
Fur Rendezvous

Alaska’s largest and oldest winter festival! From the Running of the Reindeer, outhouse races, snowshoe softball and a bunch more of winter festivities, this festival is long-running and celebrates winter in Alaska. Enjoy the carnival and fireworks at Ship Creek on opening day!
